V. (Film) Music/Sound Design – Youth Category

Philip  Eisenfeldt, 18 years, Berliner Pop Schule, Germany

Film music  "Chase and End"

The infectious rhythms quickly become an “ear worm" which gives listeners the feeling that they want to hear more of the music. The work is very easily accessible, which is an ideal basis for a film to arouse the fantasy even before a specific plot is clear.

V. (Film) Music/Sound Design – Youth Category

School-age children from the Blu:Boks Berlin, Germany

Song  "Super Mädchen" ("Super Girl")

Song  "Du kannst, wenn Du willst" ("If you want, you can")

Violence can also result from a person’s own lack of self-esteem and this song tries to describe this frame of mind while also offering encouragement to change.

The simple melody of each song is especially striking, as well as the effective arrangement which emphasize key moments in the songs.

V. (Film) Music/Sound Design – Amateur Adult Category

Lorenzo Scacchia, Italy

Film sound "mai sorto"  / "Never arisen" / "Lass’ soetwas niemals zu"

The death of the mother. For the first time the father and daughter desperately try to create a relationship with each other. Arguing over meaningless things. Anger and aggressions, feeling threatened by people who seem different, strange, whose own daughter has in the meantime become the best friend of his daughter, forcing the father to turn back.

A dramatic and emotionally moving sound which stirs the fantasy and very clearly makes palpable the world of feeling in which violence takes place – in darkness.

Lorenzo Scacchia seeks to pose questions with his work, to get people to think about things and inspire them to bring about and to accept positive changes.

The film sound (also without the underlying plot) is impressive thanks to the high degree of suspense and expressive force.

V. (Film) Music/Sound Design – Students in Professional Training Category

Jonas Grauer, Germany

Film musikc "Bis in den Abgrund" ("Right Down to the Edge")

The composition includes an impressive range of ideas about cadences, scoring, and electronic music-inspired expressive elements and is sensitive as well as forceful in expression in the warm sound of the low strings as well as the monumental character of the brass, lending the film depth, filling it with life, turning it into a memorable and spine-tingling experience.

V. (Film) Music/Sound Design – Students in Professional Training Category

Alekos Vuskovic, Chile/The Netherlands

Composition: "Carrousel’s Song at Night" (The songs are repeating in the night)

This work is about war and children bearing arms—and the drum motif is unmistakable. The composition is about the unimaginable fear and the pain which sets in especially at night, emptiness, barrenness—presented with (a nearly unbearable number of) repetitions of thirds in the strings and the penetratingly aberrated sounds which any listener can connect with—and yet there is a glimmer of hope at the end.

The set competition themes are woven into the piece with in an almost real-life texture:

- "Cinema in Your Head"
- "Violence" expressed by means of music
- Juxtaposing electronic music with classical music
- Exploring different styles

The composition received the most votes from the jury as a thematically ideal rendering work which reflects excellent craftsmanship and sound and belongs to a category of modern music which has to be heard several time in order to grasp it as a whole.

VI. Dramaturgy – Amateur Adults Category

Viktoria Schüßler, Germany

Drehbuch-Titel  "2 Minuten 47 Sekunden"

The screenplay sample is a very clearly and visually presented plot line, dispenses with the usual form, is "innovative" and courageous and can be easily imagined as a short film. It contains very small elements indicating that the action could take a turn for the better.

VI. Dramaturgy – Amateur Adults Category

Ina-Maria Maahs, Germany

Arbeit  "Leons Geschichte" ("Leon’s Story")

"Leon’s Story" is the life story of a nine-year-old boy whose father was shot dead before his eyes, is initially put in a foster family which is abusive and how, despite everything, never stops taking joy in life.

The text does a wonderful job capturing the situation Leon finds himself in, is very moving, because emotional moments are fully exploited, such as when Leon is waiting helplessly beside his dead father. Simplicity and honesty converge here, the language is very direct, completely "artless" and thus effective.
